

Jodie Rugless has been appointed Chief Information Officer for the Royal District Nursing Service in South Australia.
In the still male-dominated area of IT, both Jodie's gender and age, 34, make her a standout among her peers.
Jodie brings to the role considerable business and IT skills, including a specilisation in health information technology.
Professor Justin Beilby, the Executive Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Adelaide, has joined the board of the South Australian Royal District Nursing Service.
Professor Beilby's role at the University includes overseeing all undergraduate training in medicine, nursing, dentistry, health sciences, psychology and public health.
CEO Dale Cleaver said the RDNS are delighted to welcome Professor Beilby, with his extensive experience and knowledge to the board.
The RDNS Education Centre has secured funding through the Australian Flexible Learning Framework to conduct a
trial for the implementation of personal digital portfolios with a
group of RDNS Education Diploma of Nursing students during the
second half of 2010. The RDNS
proposal was one of only 3
projects to be funded nationally
out of a high-quality competitive
group of 20 submissions.
This
project will provide valuable
knowledge to support the
extended implementation of
digital portfolios as learning and
professional registration tools
for nursing students, current
practicing nurses and other health
professionals.
A new health program trialled by the Royal District Nursing Service of South Australia, in partnership with a major Adelaide hospital, GPs and funded by SA Health as part of SA Health GP Plus strategy to support new ways of working to improve patient outcomes recently won a national 'Australian Business Award for Community Contribution.'
The program has produced a stunning result in the first 18 months – reducing unplanned hospital visits by more than 50 percent..
